En Saint Andrew’s School todos los alumnos usan uniforme. ¿Es realmente necesario? Creemos que hay muchas razones por las cuales usar uniforme escolar no solo es una buena idea, sino importante y beneficioso. Hay varias razones por las cuales hemos adoptado este código de vestimenta.
En primer lugar, creemos que cada niño es un individuo y debería ser definido por su personalidad, talentos y habilidades, no por la ropa que usa. Tener un uniforme nos anima a todos a mirar más allá de la apariencia. Además, desde temprana edad, la presión de grupo para usar ciertos estilos o marcas puede llevar a la desigualdad, exclusión de grupos e incluso sentimientos de falta de valía si la ropa de uno no es ‘correcta’.
Saint Andrew’s es conocido por ser una escuela pequeña, y creemos que nuestro uniforme también crea un sentido de pertenencia y cohesión. Los alumnos están orgullosos de ser vistos usándolo, y nosotros estamos orgullosos de que nos representen fuera de la escuela de esta manera.
El uniforme también implica que haya una distracción menos para los niños en su aprendizaje. Ropa nueva, ropa ‘de moda’, accesorios y marcas atraerían toda la atención en el aula, donde los alumnos deberían concentrarse en otras cosas más significativas.
Finalmente, la mayoría de los padres estarán de acuerdo en que es un alivio no tener que decidir (o negociar con sus hijos) qué ropa deben usar para ir a la escuela cada día. Es divertido y agradable para los niños y sus padres experimentar con ropa y estilos durante el fin de semana, pero en las agitadas mañanas escolares es mucho más fácil saber qué necesita usar su hijo. Cada alumno en Saint Andrew’s es único y especial, no por la ropa que usa sino por quién es realmente como persona.
Why having a school uniform is a good idea
At Saint Andrew’s School all pupils wear a uniform. Is this really necessary? We believe there are many reasons why having a school uniform is not just a good idea, but important and beneficial. There are several reasons why we have adopted this dress code.
Firstly, we believe that each child is an individual and should be defined by their personality, talents and skills, not by the clothes they wear. Having a uniform encourages us all to look beyond appearance. Also, from an early age, peer pressure to wear certain styles or brands can lead to inequality, exclusion from groups and even feelings of unworthiness if one’s clothes are not ‘right’.
Saint Andrew’s is known for being a small school, and we think our uniform also creates a sense of belonging and cohesion. Pupils are proud to be seen wearing it, and we are proud that they represent us outside school in this way. A uniform also means there is one less thing to distract children from their learning. New clothes, ‘trendy’ clothes, accessories and brands would all attract attention in the classroom, where pupils should be concentrating on other, more meaningful things.
Finally, most parents would agree it is a relief not to have to decide (or negotiate with their children) which clothes are to be worn to school each day. It is fun and enjoyable for children and their parents to enjoy experimenting with clothes and styles at the weekend, but on hectic school mornings it is so much easier to know what your child needs to wear.
Each child at Saint Andrew’s School is unique and special, not because of the clothes they wear but because of who they really are as a person.
