El 23 de abril es un día especial para las Naciones Unidas llamado “El Día del Inglés”. Existe para animar a las personas a explorar la historia del idioma, aprender acerca de él y divertirse mientras lo usan. En Saint Andrew’s School, por supuesto, lo usamos constantemente. Pero, ¿qué convierte al inglés en algo tan especial siendo originalmente hablado solo por apenas unas tribus? Aquí te presentamos algunos datos curiosos; ¡esperamos que disfrutes leyéndolos!
DATO 1
Más de 2 billones de personas hablan inglés, ya sea como lengua materna o como segundo idioma. Así que 1 de cada 4 habitantes de nuestro planeta habla, al menos, un poco de inglés.

¡El inglés es un idioma feliz! El adjetivo más común es ‘good’ (bueno) y la palabra ‘happy’ (feliz) se usa 7 veces más que la palabra ‘sad’ (triste).

Unas 14 palabras nuevas se añaden al diccionario cada día. Esto es, aproximadamente, una cada 98 minutos. ¡Por favor, no creas que debes aprenderlas todas!

International English Language Day
April 23rd is a United Nations observance called ‘English Language Day’. It exists to encourage people to explore the history of the language, learn about it and have fun using it. At Saint Andrew’s School, of course, we use it constantly. But what makes English so special if it was originally only spoken by a few tribes? Here are some fun facts; we hope you enjoy reading them!
FACT 1
English is spoken by over 2 billion people, either as a first language or a second language. So 1 in 4 inhabitants of our planet can speak at least some English.
FACT 2
English is a happy language! The most common adjective is ‘good’ and the word ‘happy’ is used 7 times more than the word ‘sad’.
FACT 3
Almost 14 new words are added to the dictionary each day. That’s approximately one every 98 minutes. Please don’t think you need to learn them all!
