Cada año en Saint Andrew’s dedicamos el mes de julio a una experiencia escolar diferente. Los niños asisten sin uniforme, comienzan un poco más tarde por la mañana y en general están bajo mucha menos presión académica.
Pensamos que los niños necesitan sus vacaciones de verano, pero también creemos que asistir en julio tiene muchos beneficios. Aquí hay algunas razones por las que venir al centro en julio es una buena idea:
- Los niños mantienen amistades en un entorno más informal, y debido a que los grupos a veces son diferentes, también hacen nuevos amigos y se vinculan con nuevas personas.
- Se utiliza el inglés, como siempre, y pensamos que es importante que nuestros alumnos no se alejen del entorno de habla inglesa por mucho tiempo. Las actividades de verano son informales, pero ofrecen a los niños la oportunidad de usar el inglés en su forma escrita y hablada en contextos diferentes a los habituales.
- Se desarrollan diferentes habilidades para toda la vida, como la resolución de problemas, el pensamiento crítico y el trabajo en equipo.
- Se evita la pérdida de aprendizaje durante el verano al mantener las mentes jóvenes activas.
- Hay más tiempo para actividades físicas que construyen fuerza y condición física.
- Si bien el tiempo libre y no estructurado es importante para los niños durante las vacaciones, la investigación ha demostrado que las actividades estructuradas traen beneficios cognitivos, sociales y físicos a largo plazo.
Sobre todo, a los alumnos de Saint Andrew’s les encanta venir en julio y disfrutan haciendo recuerdos felices para toda la vida.
July at Saint Andrew’s School
Every year at Saint Andrew’s we devote the month of July to a different kind of school experience. Children attend without uniform, starting a little later in the morning and generally under much less academic pressure.
We believe children need their summer holiday, but we also believe attending in July has many benefits. Here are some of the reasons why attending in July is a good idea:
- Children maintain friendships in a more informal setting, and because the groupings are sometimes different, they also make new friends and bond with new people.
- English is used, as always, and we think it is important for our pupils not to be away from the English-speaking environment for too long. Summer activities are informal, but they offer children the chance to use English in its written and spoken form in different contexts from usual.
- Different, lifelong skills are developed, such as problem-solving, critical thinking and team-building.
- Summer learning loss is avoided by keeping young brains active.
- There is more time for physical activities that build strength and fitness.
- While free, unstructured time is important for children during the holidays, research has shown that structured activities bring long-term cognitive, social and physical benefits.
Above all, Saint Andrew’s pupils love coming in July, and enjoy making lifelong memories of happy times.
