Este año, el Día Mundial del Libro cayó durante nuestras vacaciones escolares.
Sin embargo, en el colegio hemos estado hablando con maestros y alumnos, y también observando cuáles son los libros que los niños eligen leer con más frecuencia en nuestra biblioteca. A algunos alumnos les gusta leer el mismo libro una y otra vez, y algunos libros son leídos por muchos niños diferentes. Incluso entre los niños que aún no saben leer, hay algunas historias que adoran y que piden escuchar repetidamente. También tienen libros ilustrados favoritos. Hemos intentado hacer una lista de algunos de los libros más leídos y más populares en Saint Andrew’s School.
Uno de los libros más disfrutados entre nuestros estudiantes más pequeños es Aliens Love Underpants. A los niños pequeños les encanta una historia que los hace reír, y este texto en rima de Claire Freeman, acompañado de ilustraciones hilarantes, es un favorito indiscutible.
Un libro que siempre disfrutan los niños de 5 a 7 años es Room on the Broom de Julia Donaldson. A los niños les encanta leer sobre todos los diferentes animales que ayudan a la desafortunada bruja a recuperar las cosas que pierde durante sus viajes. La repetición rítmica y las ricas ilustraciones aumentan la diversión que ofrece este cuento.
Nuestros alumnos de 8 a 9 años siempre quieren leer The Twits de Roald Dahl. El Sr. y la Sra. Twit no son personajes muy agradables, pero a nuestros jóvenes lectores les encanta descubrir cómo los Muggle Wumps se vengan de ellos.
Entre los libros más prestados por los niños de 10 a 12 años están las historias de Diary of a Wimpy Kid de Jeff Kinney, que siguen al joven protagonista Greg mientras navega por la escuela, la familia, las amistades ¡y el queso mohoso!
Como dijo Ernest Hemingway: «No hay amigo tan leal como un libro». La lista anterior es solo una pequeña selección, ¡pero nos alegra ver cómo nuestros alumnos desarrollan relaciones cercanas con sus historias favoritas!
Our favourite books
This year, World Book Day fell during our school holidays.
However, in school we have been talking to teachers and students, and also looking at which books children choose to read most from our library. Some pupils like to read the same book again and again, and some books are read by many different children. Even amongst our pre-reading children there are some stories they love, and they ask to hear them repeatedly. They also have favourite picture books. We have tried to make a list of some of the most read and most popular books Saint Andrew’s School.
One of the most-enjoyed books amongst our younger learners is Aliens Love Underpants. Young children adore a story that makes them laugh, and this rhyming text by Claire Freeman, brought to life by hilarious illustrations, is a firm favourite.
Always enjoyed by 5 to 7 year olds is Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson. Children love reading about all the different animal characters who help the unlucky witch recover the things she loses while on her travels. The rhythmic repetition and rich illustrations add to the fun this book brings.
Our 8-9 year olds always want to read The Twits by Roald Dahl. Mr and Mrs Twit are not very likeable characters, but our young readers love finding out how the Muggle Wumps get their revenge!
Among the most-borrowed books by 10 to 12 year olds are Jeff Kinney’s Diary of a Wimpy Kid stories, which follow how young protagonist Greg navigates his way through school, family, friendships and mouldy cheese!
As Ernest Hemingway said, ‘There is no friend as loyal as a book.’ The list above is only a small selection, but we are happy to watch our pupils develop close relationships with their favourite stories!
